Mt. Vernon’s McCann receives Honor Award
Mt. Vernon Power and Light Electric Supervisor earns public utilities recognition
A multi-state organization of municipal utilities has honored City of Mount Vernon Power and Light Electric Department Supervisor Bailey McCann with its Honor Award.
The award, presented by the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA), recognizes employees or officials of MPUA member utilities who have made significant local contributions to municipal utilities.
“Bailey McCann’s leadership and expertise have been instrumental in guiding Mt. Vernon through a transformational time in their community,” said John Twitty, President and CEO of MPUA. “His key work in major projects has made him a trusted leader both within his crew and throughout the community.”
McCann began his work at Mt. Vernon as a Journeyman Lineworker in 2021 before becoming an Electric Supervisor in May 2023.
During his time at the utility, Mt Vernon’s electric distribution system has undergone rapid growth, requiring various upgrades and new service installations. McCann has helped lead these projects including a new 108-home subdivision, new industries, and new services for a 911 call center, county jail, and county health department.
City leaders describe McCann as a driven leader focused on great safety practices for his crew and the public.
Before working for the City of Mount Vernon, Bailey worked as a private commercial lineworker since 2014, contracting for numerous jobs across the United States.
The annual Alliance Awards are made in recognition of achievement and distinction among MPUA member hometown utilities.
