Mt. Vernon’s Moore named MU Pre-ETS Teacher of the Year
On Monday, May 20, the University of Missouri Pre-Employment Transition Services directors presented Lana Moore of Mt. Vernon High School with the MU Pre-ETS Southwest Region teacher of the year award.
When presenting Moore with her award the MU Pre-ETS representatives shared the following statement. “Ms. Moore puts her heart and soul into what she teaches her students. She teaches them academics, life-skills, and character building skills. She holds them to high expectations in a way that is still so patient and kind. She shows them how to be good people who believe in themselves. Ms. Moore has promoted Pre-ETS and VR to all of her students. She takes advantage of every opportunity to go to job shadows or expos. She has been known to show up to a job shadows handing out drawstring bags and gloves that she either bought or acquired herself so that each student could have what they need. Another amazing thing about Ms. Moore is how quickly she jumped on board to get their high school established as a Summer Work Site and that she even applied and served as the job coach for the students at their new site.”
