Mt. Vernon Chamber, EDC boost service with reinforcements
Hires expected to enhance organization output, increase economic growth in local business community
The Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mt. Vernon Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announced the strategic engagement of two distinguished professionals to drive economic and community development initiatives in the region. These contracts represent a significant step forward in positioning Mt. Vernon for sustained business growth and community prosperity.
Rob O’Brian, a highly respected figure with nearly 40 years of experience in chambers of commerce, economic development, and community initiatives, has been contracted by the Mt. Vernon EDC. Based in Joplin, O’Brian will leverage his extensive expertise to establish robust economic development incentives and policies aimed at attracting and retaining businesses in Mt. Vernon. His role will be pivotal in crafting strategies that foster a conducive environment for business growth, ensuring Mt. Vernon remains competitive and appealing to both new and existing enterprises.

Christy Beshore has been jointly contracted by the EDC and the Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce to serve part-time in dual roles. With five years of residency in Mt. Vernon and a year of dedicated volunteer service at the chamber, Beshore brings a deep connection to the community and a passion for local development. In her new capacity, she will manage the EDC membership, create value for the non-profit organization, and advance its mission of economic growth. Additionally, Beshore will assist in the chamber office with event planning, coordination and administrative support.
