Mt. Vernon golf headed to state competition

The Mt. Vernon Lady Mt’neer golf team is headed to state after winning districts on Monday, Oct. 9. The team achieved a team score of 395 with three members, Madi Phillips (88- PR), Kenadi Killinsworth (93) and Emmie Schubert (98), also qualifying to move on as individuals. They will be competing for the state titles on Monday, Oct. 16, and Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin.
The Mt. Vernon Lady Mountaineer golf team also finished strong in Big 8 Conference with a second place finish and four teammates setting a new personal record in Carthage on Monday, Oct. 2.
The team had personal best scores by Autumn Thomas, Courtnee Bishop, Emmie Schubert, and Madi Phillips. The team also had three top medalist placing in the top 15 all-conference players in Emmie Schubert, Madi Phillips and Kenadi Killingsworth.
Killingsworth, the team’s only senior, has been an all-conference player all four years of high school.
