PHILLIP DEAN DAY

Phillip Dean Day, age 87, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 1:27 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at National Health Care in Joplin, Missouri. He was born August 1, 1937, in Burna, Kentucky; the son of Jess Willard and Virgie Iona (Wadley) Day.
Phillip was a truck driver for Nick Transport in Mt. Vernon, Missouri and was a member of the Ozark High Riders 4 x 4 Club.
Phillip is survived by his four children: Loretta Gaches and her husband, Ronnie of Duenweg, Missouri, Barbara Mackie of Stotts City, Missouri, Steve Day and his wife, Melissa of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Randy Day and his wife, Tracy of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; their mother, Mary Garrett of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; one sister, Pat Dodson and her husband, Ronnie of Paducah, Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with another on the way and three great-great grandchildren and another on the way.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Virgie; sister, Virginia Swift and brother, Jack Day.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
