The Playground opens for business

Owners of The Playground Event Center and Lounge cut the ribbon at the grand opening of their establishment, with some assistance from their little helpers, during a Friday, June 14, Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce ceremony. The new business is owned by Michael and Robin Schatzer, and Faye and Tony Mehmedi. The entertainment outfit offers a golf simulator, pool, air hockey, Connect Four Basketball, cornhole and more. They also serve bar food, including pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken strips, fries, etc., as well as alcoholic beverages.
The Playground and Event Center is located at 722 W. Mt. Vernon Blvd., and is open from 4 to 11 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, and from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday through Saturday. Patrons under 21 are permitted in the establishment until 7 p.m. (Photo credit Steve Chapman)
