Rex Henderson, 79, of Purdy passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, while at his home with his family by his side. He was born at home on June 20, 1944 in Monett, the son of the late Leslie and Ruth (Davis) Henderson.
He grew up in Purdy and graduated from Purdy High School with the class of 1962. He was saved at a young age and was a lifelong member of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a trustee for many years. He also invested over 27 years on the Purdy School Board.
Before retiring he was employed at the Purdy Farm Center for over 44 years while maintaining his family dairy farm.
On Oct. 11, 1963 at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, he married Sharon Dilbeck. They have been blessed with over 60 years together and to this union, four children were born.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; three sons, Randy (Robin) Henderson, Jay (Shelley) Henderson and Reuben (Crystal) Henderson all of Purdy; one daughter, Cindy (Randy) Burnside of Purdy; two sisters, Margaret Ash of Monett and Betty Holloway of Purdy; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronnie and Mike Henderson.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church in Purdy, with Pastor Jesse Cole and Pastor Lee Neill officiating. Interment followed at the Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
