SHIRLEY LORENE SMITH
Shirley Lorene Smith also lovingly known as “Nanny” and “Slim,” 84, of Cassville passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born Sept. 26, 1940, in Hazel Valley, Ark.; the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline Garnett (Evans) Napier-Hammon.
She grew up and went to school in Wichita, Kan.; graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 1958. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
On Oct. 23, 1959, she married Eddie “Lynn” Smith in Wichita, Kan. They were maried for almost 58 years when he passed away on May 4, 2017.
She is survived by two sons, Jamey Lane (Sonya) Smith and Jerry Lee (Tori) Smith all of Cassville; two daughters, Lorie Lynn (Eric) Robertson of Lavaca, Ark. and Lana Lea (Jason) Kesner of Springdale, Ark.; two brothers, J.R. (Carolyn) Hammon of Andover, Kan. and Danny (Jeanine) Hammon of Lenexa, Kan.; four sisters: Ella Storrer of El Dorado, Kan., Bobbie (Ben) Sprang of Olathe, Kan., Janice Pope of Pratt, Kan. and Garnett “Sissy” (Dave) Dixon of Derby, Kan.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; her parents; a brother, Tony Napier; and a sister, Wanda Meyer.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears conducted the services.
