SPURGEON EUGENE AUST

Spurgeon Eugene “Gene” Aust, 70, of Mt. Vernon passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born in Bakersfield, Calif. on Oct. 3, 1954; the son of Spurgeon and Clara (Young) Aust.
He was the manager of a Commercial Tire Company.
He is survived by his son, Andy Aust of Bentonville, Ark.; one daughter, April Walterich of Republic; five brothers: Bo Aust of Washington State, Ronnie Aust of Republic, Larry Aust of Harrison, Ark., Mike and Matt Aust, both of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Judy Wharf of Harrison, Ark. and Irene Young of the state of California and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon.
