Sue Ellis

Sue Ellis, 85, of Aurora, passed away Aug. 14, 2019, at the Aurora Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Aurora to Hugh and Lucille (Carney) Gardner.
She was a 1951 graduate of Aurora High School. After graduating from high school, she was employed at the Juvenile Shoe Corporation in Aurora for a short time. She was a control supervisor for Mid America Dairy for 36 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora for over 50 years. During that time, she served as a deacon and treasurer. She was also a member of Chapter JE of PEO.
In 1951, she married Don Ellis, in Aurora; he preceded her in death in 1975. After retirement she traveled to numerous places and had many great times with special friends, including the Golden Girls. During her travels, she experienced time with celebrities Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Tiger Woods. She also spent her free time at her beloved lake home on Table Rock.
She is survived by: son, Craig (Jody) Ellis of Aurora; daughters, Donna (Richard) Helgerson of Aurora and Stacey Ellis (Brad) Boyce of Springfield; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Lucille (Carney) Gardner.
Funeral service under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora, was held at 1 p.m. Aug. 19, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora. Burial followed at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.
