Sybil Kathleen Parks

Sybil Kathleen Parks, 90, of Mt. Vernon, passed May 8, 2021.
Visitation was from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Birch Funeral Home in Ash Grove. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Hampton Cemetery.
Parks was born at home in Everton on Jan. 5, 1931. She graduated from Dadeville High School and continued on to receive a bachelor’s degree from SMS.
She was married to Giles Holman in 1954. They were married until he passed in 1957. Later she married John Parks and they were married for 38 years.
Parks knew at an early age she wanted to be a teacher. She was a sixth grade English teacher in Mt. Vernon from 1963 to 1985, thought of by many as their favorite teacher.
Parks is survived by two sons, Win Holman of Mt. Vernon and David Holman of Licking. She was a loving granny to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gladys Hoover of Everton, brothers Winfred and Glenn Hoover of Everton, sister Evelyn Hoover of Everton, son Mike Holman of Springfield, granddaughter Jenny Holman of Paris Springs, granddaughter Tina Holman of LaRussell, great-grandson Devin Omera of Paris Springs.
