Miller Mayor

Name: Stacy Daniels

Education:
I am a graduate of Miller High School and hold an Associate's Degree of Applied Science

Occupation:
For the last seven years I have been a substitute teacher with Miller School District. Prior to moving back to Miller, I was a Certified Medical Assistant with Wright State Dept. of Surgery in Dayton, Ohio.  I have also worked in the travel and tourism industry, and after graduating high school I went to school and became a licensed cosmetologist.

Family:
My parents are Stewart and Lanell Richardson; brother and sister-in-law John and Lisa Richardson; husband Ron Daniels, children Kandice Matteson, Makenna Daniels and Mikah Daniels.

Why should someone vote for you:
It has been a privilege and an honor serving the residents and city of Miller. When I came into office in 2018, the city of Miller was in the midst of a state audit. Once the audit was complete, the city of Miller received a "poor" rating.  It was necessary to radically change how the city operated. In the six-month follow-up, the state audit stated "substantially completed" in all areas of deficiency. Checks and balances have been implemented for accountability. I immediately started researching and identifying the needs of the city. The first and most important was to address the wastewater system and be in compliance with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).  I secured a Community Development Block Grant through the Department of Economic Development in the amount of $750,000 to help fund this wastewater upgrade project.

There has been many other projects and upgrades completed: new solar-powered, battery back-up weather siren; school zone on Highway 39; and we have contracted with Lawrence County Sheriff Office to provide public safety and law enforcement to the city after two years without an officer; and we have upgraded equipment in our Maintenance Department. Financially, we are better than we have been in years due to being fiscally responsible. Our income is up and our expenses are down. If I am re-elected as mayor, I will continue to work hard, continue to be fiscally responsible, and continue to identify the needs and implement plans for the improvement of our infrastructure and what is best for the residents and city of Miller.

Why should someone vote for you?
Served for four consecutive terms as mayor of Miller in the 1990s - will be full-time mayor. Placed my name in contention at the request of several of my fellow citizens of Miller and, upon detailed review of relevant city financials, have become extremely concerned about city’s long term solvency and lack of proper responses to state auditor’s follow up report to its original audit of the city.

Miller Board of Aldermen

Name: Philip Bowers

Education: Bachelors degree in Justice Studies. Cross trained in Corrections and Law enforcement

Occupation: I took a Medical Disability  several years ago from the Washington State Department of Corrections. I worked for several years as a Correctional Counselor -,3 inside Correctional facilities in the State of Washington.

Family: My wife and I and our youngest son moved here three years ago from the west coast of Washington. We are parents of several children, with lots of grandchildren and some great grandchildren.

Why should someone vote for you: I believe that governments should be accountable for their accomplishments and failures.  The concerns of the community should come first and foremost to support the community as best as possible. This should support as much of the community as possible. But, all of the needs of the community should be addressed when necessary. Whenever possible I will be available to answer whatever questions that are asked if possible, as there are some things that are not open to the community. I'll say this now I don't talk very well politically but I deal with facts and I can get rather blunt in some matters. What will be best for Miller will be the question that I will be asking as I deal with the issues.

Name: Joe Haas

Why should someone vote for you? I am looking forward to serving the citizens of Miller on the Miller Board of Aldermen to improve areas within the city as a whole and the individual departments as needed. I'm looking forward to working with the Miller School District, the various city organizations and the citizens of Miller. I would like you to consider voting for me for City Council. The most important thing is for everyone to go vote!

Name: Dennis Ray Harris
