The Mt. Vernon Mt’neers 2023 football season came to an end a little sooner than they would have liked. The Seneca Indians defeated the Mt’neers, 49-21, at Tom Hodge Field at Seneca High School in the Class 3, District 6 championship game on Friday, Nov. 10.

The Mt. Vernon Lady Mt’neers are district champions for the first time since 2020 after avenging a September loss to Nevada in the district championship game 3-1. Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The Lady Mt’neers took fifth on the links in the state golf meet shooting a 797 in last week’s championships.
The Lady Mt’neers shot a 388 on the first day but struggled on day two shooting a 409. Osage won the team portion of the state meet shooting a 704.

The Mt. Vernon Lady Mt’neer golf team is headed to state after winning districts on Monday, Oct. 9. The team achieved a team score of 395 with three members, Madi Phillips (88- PR), Kenadi Killinsworth (93) and Emmie Schubert (98), also qualifying to move on as individuals.

After a fantastic regular season that saw the Lady Mt’neers tennis team go 10-3 and receive the top seed in their district tournament that took place last week, two representatives will move on to the state meet.
