Houn’ Dawgs fall to Wildcats in Class 4 sectional, Logan-Rogersville walks off Aurora for the win

The 2026 High School baseball season has come to an end for the Aurora Houn’ Dawgs after their 7-6 loss to Class 4, top ranked Logan-Rogersville in the sectional round of the Class 4 state baseball tournament on Tuesday, May 26 at home.

After a scoreless first inning, Aurora got on the board first when Brennan Diaz stole home plate in the top of the second inning to give the Houn’ Dawgs an early 1-0 lead. The Wildcats tied the game 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the third inning. 

Carson Gilliam doubled to right field in the top of the fourth inning to drive in max Holland regaining the lead, 2-1. A few moments later, Parker Blackburn would fly out to right field to drive in Gilliam and increase their lead to 3-1.

Logan-Rogersville answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game 3-3. In the top of the fifth inning, Holland would double to centerfield and knock in Memphis Mooneyham to once again go on top by one run.

The Wildcats came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead in the game. In the top of the sixth inning, Keston Rook bunted the ball allowing Diaz to score and tied the game at 5-5. A few batters later, Rook was able to score on a wild pitch to give the Houn’ Dawgs a 6-5 lead in the game.

Logan-Rogersville would walk off Aurora with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game 7-6.

Gilliam went 2-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Holland was 1-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Blackburn finished the game 0-2 with an RBI.

Aurora finishes their 2026 season with a 15-16 record.
