Guy Kent Jackson

Guy Kent Jackson passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Missouri Veterans Home where he had courageously battled Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP.) Even though the disease was robbing him of his health and mobility, he continued to relate to his caregivers with his pranks and fun personality. The grief and love demonstrated by the staff at the veterans home at his passing were spontaneous and from their hearts.
Jackson was born in St. Louis, in 1950 to Peggy and Roger Jackson. He grew up in Nevada, Mo. and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized at First Baptist Church. He attended Nevada High School, graduating in 1968. He then attended Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, later transferring to the University of Missouri, Columbia. Before completing his degree, he was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Army he worked in sales in Nevada where he met his wife of 51 years, Diane. He was well known around the area for his prowess in local softball and basketball leagues. The couple later moved to Monett where they have lived for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Peggy Jackson, and brothers Roger Jackson, Jr. and Mick Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Jackson; brother Wayne and his wife, Vicky Jackson of Fort Mill, S.C.; and Jay Jackson, Cedar Creek; brother-in-law Ron and his wife Judy Layher of Franklin, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews and their families.
