Janice Elaine Berry

Janice Elaine Berry, 79, passed away Nov. 21, in Fayetteville, Ark. She was the daughter of Mike and Dorothy Downing. She graduated from Humphreys High School in 1957 and attended Grad Business School in St. Joseph. She worked for the University of Missouri in Columbia where she met and later married her husband Dr. Ivan Berry. As their family grew and Ivan’s career developed, they moved to Kerrville, Texas; Bryan, Texas; Lincoln, Neb.; and Fayetteville, Ark. Berry spent most of her working career as a legal secretary. She was active in the Ozark Literacy Council, the Daughters of Demeter, and the Q.U.I.L.T. Guild of northwest Arkansas. She was a generous woman, and always willing to help when needed. She was a talented seamstress. Over the years, she crafted clothing, stuffed toys, dolls, and many quilts for her family and friends. In her retirement years, she was happiest when she was quilting, reading, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball, or going on traveling adventures with her sister Joyce.
She is survived by: daughters, Elaine Berry (William) Jaeger of Clay Center, Neb. And daughter Brenda (James) Krajewski of Fayetteville Ark.; son, Brian Berry of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Joyce Boswell; brother, Leon (Nancy) Downing; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a host of family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ivan.
Funeral services were held Nov. 26, 2018, at Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home at 206 W. Center Street, Fayetteville, 72701. Graveside services were held Nov. 27, 2018, at Summit Cemetery in rural Mt. Vernon. To place an online tribute, visit www.mooresfuneralchapel.com
