John Junior Lomas

John Junior Lomas, 95, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Nov. 12, 2018, at the Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett. He was born April 30, 1923, in Walnut Grove, to the late John and Lillian (Box) Lomas.
Lomas was a 1942 graduate of Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, and was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. He retired as the warehouse manager after 30 years of employment with Ozark Electric Cooperative. He was a member of the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder and the clerk of the session. In 1948, he married Helen Irene Orr, in Springfield. She preceded him in death May 17, 2018.
Lomas is survived by: daughter, Anita Hansen of Norman, Okla.; sons, Lyle (Connie) Lomas of Dennis, Kan. and Leland (Renee) Lomas of Hilmar, Calif.; sister, Velma Harrell of Anaheim, Calif.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was proceded in death by brother, Leon Lomas and sister, Anna Pearl Fender.
A visitation was held Nov. 19, 2018, at the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church with a funeral service that followed.  Burial was at the Ozark Prairie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
