Kenneth Eugene McCoy Sr.

Kenneth Eugene McCoy Sr., age 89, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Kenneth was born July 31, 1931, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the son of Purl and Ercell (Garner) McCoy.
In 1955 Kenneth met the love of his life Joyce. After four months of dating, they married on February 6, 1955. In this union they had five children. In 1971, Kenneth and Joyce moved their family to Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Kenneth was a Navy veteran who worked as a fabricator for Acme Structural in Springfield, Missouri, and Country Flame in Mt. Vernon. He was a man who based his value on hard work. There wasn’t a thing he couldn’t build, fix, or create. Even after retirement, you could find him working on new projects. One of his many projects included a model car, to an airplane that is still on display on his family land.
Kenneth was a man of faith who loved to sing for the lord and was an active member in his home church, Northside Baptist, of Mt. Vernon. His family was his pride and joy. He always said, all you have in life is family. He looked forward to Sunday lunches after church as his home was filled with love and laughter from the family he created. Kenneth enjoyed sharing his stories from when he was a young kid who would walk ten miles to town and back, to meeting the love of his life. Kenneth had a personality that would light up a room and he never met a stranger.
Kenneth is survived by two sons, Kenneth McCoy Jr. and his wife, Missy, of Miller, Missouri and Alan McCoy and his wife, Christine, of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Linda Marsh, Patricia Bieber and her husband, Mike, and Sandra Campbell all of Mt. Vernon; two brothers Hollie and Robert McCoy of California; his legacy of 24 grandkids, 36 great-grandkids, and seven great-great grandkids.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his parents, Purl and Ercell, granddaughter, Tracy Bieber, two sons-in-law, Daniel Campbell, and Dennis Marsh, three brothers, Pete, Leslie, and Billie Ray, three sisters, Wanda, Eloise, Joyce, and his twin sister Kathryn.
A private memorial service will be held for both Kenneth and Joyce McCoy on February 6, 2021. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
