Mac Eugene Backerman

Mac Eugene Backerman, 49, of Lamar, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 23, 2025.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1976 and grew up in Lamar. He was the beloved husband of Victoria (Dutson) Backerman and a devoted father to their two children, Zoey and Jacob, who were the center of his world. He was the cherished son of Gene and Becky (Knell) Backerman and the younger brother of Jennie (Chad) McManis.
He had a deep love for cooking, which led him to earn his Culinary Arts degree from Bridgerland Applied Technology Center in Logan, Utah. He later moved his family to Missouri, where he fulfilled a dream by operating a pizza shop. His creativity and care in the kitchen brought joy to many.
Driven by a passion for helping others, he returned to school to earn degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. He found his true calling in teaching, where his patience, warmth and dedication made a lasting impact on the lives of his students and colleagues.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. His faith was a guiding light, and he lived it through service, compassion and quiet strength.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria; their two children; his parents; his sister and her husband; and many extended family members and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lamar, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. President Adam Bourgeous conducted the services. A celebration of life followed.
