Meat Boats

The Record’s “Recipe of the Week”: Meat Boats by Mrs. Clifford Brown

• 8 hot dog buns
• 1 lb. hamburger
• 1 green pepper, chopped
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 1 can tomato soup
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
• 1/4 tsp. black pepper
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/4 stick butter or margarine

1) Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the garlic salt. Saute the onion and green pepper in the butter.

2) Scoop the centers out of the top half of each hot dog bun. Should look like a canoe. Crumble the centers and combine with the tomato soup, egg, hamburger, salt, and pepper. Add the onion, green pepper, butter mixture. Mix well. Fill the canoes with the meat mixture. Place on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until the meat is done.
