Monett baseball loses four games last week, Lady Cub soccer falls to Cassville
The Monett High School baseball team hosted their Monett Baseball Tournament last week, losing all three of their games.
The Cubs played two games on Friday, April 3, losing to Carl Junction 6-0 and Seneca 11-0.
Against Carl Junction, the Bulldogs scored one run in the first inning, two runs in the second and sixth innings and one run in the seventh inning. Brayden Seitz and Carson Burtrum were both 1-3 in the game.
The Seneca Indians scored one run in the first and third innings, two runs in the fifth inning, five runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning. Seitz finished the game 2-3.
The Cubs opened up the tournament with a 16-6 loss to Class 4, fourth ranked Bolivar on Thursday, April 2.
The Liberators jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and increased that lead to 9-0 by the end of the third inning. Monett scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 9-5. A four-run fourth inning by Bolivar made it 13-5. The Cubs added their final run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 13-6. The Liberators scored their final three runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Burtrum went 2-3 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBIs and Tucker Goetz finished the game 1-3 with an RBI.
The Cubs started their week by traveling to Hollister on Monday, March 30 but lost to the Tigers 4-0.
Hollister scored one run in the first inning and three runs in the fifth inning. Matthew Semerad and Miles Young both went 1-3 in the game.
Monett is now 6-4 on the season and were scheduled to play against McDonald County last night before heading to East Newton tomorrow night and then finishing the week at home against Carthage on Friday night.
Soccer
In girls soccer, the lady Cubs lost to Cassville 1-0 at home on Monday night.
Monett is 0-3 on the season and were scheduled to play at New Heights Christian Academy on Monday night and then at home against Aurora last night. Monett will end the week playing in the Willard Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
