Mt. Vernon’s Meirick, Clark advance to State Golf

The Mt. Vernon High School boys golf team hosted the Big 8 Conference on Monday, May 5, in Carthage. The team finished fourth overall and Karter Clark finished third overall individual earning an All-Conference selection. The team then participated in the Class 3 District golf tournament which was held in Nevada on Wednesday, May 7. 
“It was a nasty day for golf but the results were great for the Mt. Vernon squad. Carter Meirick shot an 81 and Karter Clark shot an 83, which were impressive scores under the conditions,” said coach Dusty Killingsworth.
Both earned All-District and will advance to play at the state tournament May 19-20, at Twin Hills in Joplin.
