The Mt. Vernon girls’ golf team wrapped up another successful season this last week. The team is led by senior duo, Madi Phillips and Courtnee Bishop. The Lady Mt’neers placed in every golf tournament they played in this year, and state was no different. Phillips became a second time state qualifier placing 15th in the Class 2 State Finals at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa, on Oct. 21-22. She had a remarkable second day to come back and secure the 15th spot. Emmie Schubert also played extremely well and finished strong at 21st. Senior Bishop, unfortunately, had to leave the tournament early due to an injury on day one. Autumn Thomas was the other state attendee who also had two good rounds at Fremont Hills last week. The future continues to look bright for the future Lady Mt’neer golf team.
