New nurse practitioner in Aurora cares for her hometown
Looney, nurse practitioner, joins Mercy Clinic Family Medicine
The newest nurse practitioner at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Aurora didn’t have to look far to see where she could make a difference in the lives of others.
“I was born and raised in Aurora, so it was only fitting to be able to come back and take care of the community that raised me,” Emilee Looney said.
Looney had no doubt that her future would include a life of service. She began her career caring for the tiniest patients as a neonatal intensive care nurse for six years. Then she was ready to take another step.
“I’ve always had the desire and compassion to care for those who need it and becoming a nurse practitioner allowed me to be more and do more for those who need me,” she said.
Looney’s personal and professional roots in southwest Missouri are deep. She earned her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Southwest Baptist University and her family nurse practitioner degree from Cox College.
When she’s not in the office, Looney loves to spend time outside with her 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter.
