Norma C. Pennel

Norma C. Pennel, 84, of Verona, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026 with her son and husband by her side at home.
She was born Oct. 9, 1942 in Redlands, Calif to Menon and Lois (Tince) Yerton. After graduating high school, she married Clifton Caldwell. To this union three children were born. While raising her family, she went to nursing school, graduating with a LPN degree and later worked in nursing homes to support her family while living in different towns in the state of Washington. She later moved to Monett in 2006 to be close to family members. 
In 2003 she met and married Darrel Pennel. Norma just celebrated her 84th birthday on Oct. 9.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Tammi, Houser and husband Kevin of Mount Vernon, Wash., Lori, Rosser and husband Drew of Bellingham, Wash and Bryan Caldwell of the home; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dan Yerton, and one sister,  Barbara, both of California; one sister-in-law, Foy Yerton of Yuma, Ariz.
She is also survived by four step-sons, four step-grandchildren; and five step-great- grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Yerton.
Her wish was to be cremated and her ashes to be spread in Deception Pass in Washington State.  No services are planned at this time. A possible celebration of life and memorial will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
