Doris Ruth Gautney

Doris Ruth Gautney, 93, of Cassville passed away Feb. 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Kansas City, Dec. 20, 1926 to William Arthur and Bessie Francis Amos. At an early age she moved to the Gunter-Butterfield Community where she grew up and attended the Gunter and Butterfield Schools. In the later part of 1942, she moved to Cassville where she later married Doyle Gautney. In 1952 she went to work for Goodnow Textile Company in Monett as a sewing machine operator. When they later sold to Jr. Kid Togs she was selected by the owner of the company as production manager and floor lady where she remained until their closing in 1975. In 1975 she opened what was known as Doris’s Greenhouse and remained in her own business until 1990 when she closed her greenhouse. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cassville where she attended until her illness.
She is survived by: daughter, Darla Pippin of Cassville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Norma Amos; brother, Charles (Evelyn) Gifford; and one daughter-in-law, Ilene Gautney; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by: her husband Doyle; sons, Dale, Darrell and Dennis; one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; brothers, James Delmar, Glenn, and Ivan Amos; sisters, Wilma Louise Amos and Mary King and special daughter-in-law, Sharon Kay Gautney.
Visitation was held Feb. 24, 2020 from 1-2 p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services followed visitation at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Burial followed services at the Sparks Cemetery in Butterfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
