Fuller Housing Center dedicates 15th home

Gilmores take possession of house in Monett, started construction in 2024
 
 
On Jan. 10, the Monett Fuller Housing Center, formerly associated with Habitat for Humanity, dedicated its 15th house in Monett, located at 618 Eighth Street.
Groundbreaking on the house took place on June 7, 2024. The new owners are the Amanda and Kevin Gilmore family. Forty celebrants were on hand for the dedication.
Linda Schelin opened the program, quoting the Biblical letter from First John, encouraging loving people “not only with words and talk, but by actions and true caring.” Pastor Joshua Lien from the Monett Church of the Nazarene gave the opening prayer. The Gilmores and four of their five children were formally introduced.
Following the organization’s traditional dedication, the Fuller Center presented the family with specific gifts. Katy Velasquez gave a candle as a sign of the presence of Christ in the home. Gordon Brown offered a loaf of bread, signifying the “daily bread,” signifying “everything we have comes from God.” Kayla Younker presented a Bible, asking that the Word of God serve as a guide for the home.
Linda and Bill VanEaton conducted the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to dedicate the house. Construction manager Jim Copeland presented keys to the house and numbers to the location’s address. The Gilmores expressed their appreciation for the Fuller team in making their dream of owning a home possible.
Jerry Hudson briefly outlined plans for the next Fuller house. The organization hopes to build one house per year, and will locate the next project at Ninth and Scott, one block east of the Gilmore home. The program closed with a litany of dedication. A home tour followed with refreshments.
