The Aurora City Council declined, during their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to allow residents to drive golf carts on city streets. The issue had been put on the agenda after two Aurora residents requested permission to do so during the meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Work currently being done on the new Mt. Vernon city hall building should be complete and most city departments moved in by late spring or early summer of 2019.

The Mt. Vernon Economic Development Corporation took action in introducing Mt. Vernon high schoolers to local manufacturing. The organization hosted a manufacturing tour, Friday, Oct. 19, in honor of National Manufacturing Day, which occurs annually the first Friday in October.

The Mt. Vernon Board of Aldermen passed two ordinances during the meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23, authorizing agreements between the city and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), and between the city and Empire District Industries.
