Albert Irvin Meriwether

Albert Irvin Meriwether, 89, formerly of Pierce City and Eagle Rock, passed away Nov. 16, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Georgetown,Texas. Meriwether was born in Neodesha, Kan. June 14, 1931. He was the son of William Howard and Nellie (Burns) Meriwether. He married Mary Dean Pettit Dec. 3, 1955 in Anderson, Ind. She preceded him in death Jan. 28, 2007. He later married Dorothy Glynn Lowe and preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2012. He worked as a factory worker for Miracle Recreation and also spent many years upholstering furniture as owner of M and M Upholstery Shop. He was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Eagle Rock and a member of the MO Horse and Mule Driver’s Association before moving to Georgetown, Texas.
Surviving are the following: son, Daniel Meriwether of Pierce City; daughters, Velma Mitchell of Georgetown, Texas. and Kaye Witbrodt of Strafford; brother, Delber Meriwether of Grand Bay, Ala.; sister, Viola Boggs of Eagle Rock; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a daughter, Ester Robertson; a brother, David Meriwether; a sister, Virginia Hansen; one grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Graveside services were at Pierce City Cemetery Nov. 20, 2020.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
