Betty J. Yancey

Betty J. Yancey, 92, of Monett, passed away Oct. 18, 2020, at Oak Pointe-Monett.
Yancey was born on July 23, 1928 in Monett. She was the daughter of Charles and Sadie (Laney) Stockton. She lived her entire life in Monett. She graduated from Monett High School, class of 1946, and attended Monett Junior College. She taught for many years in the rural area around Monett. Later, she was employed as a secretary for the Monett School District. She later worked at Modern Variety and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monett.
On March 18, 1949, in Eureka Springs, Ark., she  married Raymond Yancey.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah (Stephen) Davis of Springfield; one grandson; sisters, Pat Jackson of Monett and Charlene McNutt of Marionville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Private family graveside services were held Oct. 21, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Parkinson’s Association. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
