Betty Lou Land

Betty Lou Land, 90, of Monett passed away Oct. 8 following several months of declining health.
Land was born on Feb. 11, 1930 in Verona, daughter of the late Samuel and Eula Elizabeth (Scott) Nelson.
Land and her first husband, Ernest Grass, opened and operated Big M Marina, where she worked in the restaurant. She later operated the Bon Ton Dress Shop and finally Betty’s Floral in Purdy. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Monett.
On Feb. 23, 1970 in Miami, Okla., Betty (Nelson) Grass married Bill Land.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Gary Wellbaum; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Grass and Bill Land; son, Robert Grass; daughter, Mary Wellbaum; one great-grandson; brothers, Lloyd, Chester, John, Warner, Joe and Charlie; sisters, Eva Mae, Marie, Helen, Lucille and Mary Ellen.
Visitation was held Oct. 13 at Buchanan Funeral Home funeral services followed. Interment followed at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
