Call's 37 points powers Lady Mt'neers to home opener win

Mt. Vernon senior standout welcomed the home crowd to her senior year in style Monday, Dec. 10, as she led all scorers with 37 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead the Lady Mt'neers to a decisive 30-point win over Nevada, 73-43.
Call scored 14 points in the first quarter to help Mt. Vernon build an 18-12 lead after one quarter. She added 13 more in the second quarter and the Lady Mt'neers lead grew to 13 at the break, 42-29.
Two straight buckets late in the third gave Mt. Vernon a 30-point edge after three quarters, 64-34. The final score, 73-43, was the same lead as the third quarter lead.
After Call's 37 points, Hicks added16, while Lacy Stokes had 10.
Mt. Vernon improved to 3-1 on the season and will travel to Fayetteville, AR on Saturday, Dec. 15, followed by a home game on Monday, Dec. 17 against Hollister.
