Carl Francis Schmidt

Carl Francis Schmidt, 79, passed away Aug. 3, 2020. He was born June 1, 1941 to Albert and Flora Schmidt of Verona.
He worked and retired from Associated Wholesale Grocers, Teamsters Local 245. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  He was an active member of The Knights of Columbus and was devoted to volunteering with Catholic charities.
He is survived by: his son Denis Schmidt of Louisville, Ky.; son, Rick (Starla) Slankard; daughter, Nanci (Ron) Hale, both Sand Springs, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Andrew Schmidt of West Fork, Ark., Leo (Janice) Schmidt, Ralph (Jeannie) Schmidt, Marguerite (Bill) Butterworth; sister-in-law, Joyce Tinklepaugh of Monett;  and numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by: his wife, Jackie; daughter, Patricia Whittaker; son, Gary Slankard; his parents; brother, Joe Schmidt; and sister, Mary Ann Jirik.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Catholic Charities, 424 E. Monastery, Springfield, MO 65807. Funeral Mass was held at Immaculate Conception, Aug. 7, 2020. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
