Charles Benton Rapp

Charles Benton Rapp, age 79, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was born July 6, 1941, in Stone County, Missouri, the son of Albert Britten and Hattie Mae (Williams) Rapp.
Charles was a 1959 graduate of Hurley High School in Hurley, Missouri, and was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.  He worked for the United States Post Office in Springfield, Missouri, for 25 plus years.  He enjoyed playing his guitar and blue grass music, singing at church, fishing, deer hunting and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
On July 12, 1968, he married Karon Kay Breidenstein, in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania.
Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karon; two sons, Bradley Rapp of Nixa, Missouri and Eric Rapp and his wife, Brandi Cruz, of Denver, Colorado; two granddaughters, Riley Cruz-Rapp and Liliana Cruz-Rapp; one sister, Thelma Bacher of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Maxine Rapp of Marionville, Missouri and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hattie, two sisters, Lucille Gold and her husband, Leaford and Irene O’Neal and her husband, John, two brothers, Eldon Rapp and Loyd Rapp and his wife, Abby, and one brother-in-law, Joseph Bacher.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Mt. Olive Cemetery, north of Marionville, Missouri.  Viewing will be held from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, in the funeral home chapel.
Per the family’s request, those attending the graveside, are asked to wear masks.
Memorial donations in memory of Charles may be made to the donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.
