Charles Edward Hinkle

Charles Edward Hinkle, 86, of Purdy passed away Dec. 4, 2020, while at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1934 in Monett son of the late Cecil and Lois Gertrude (Owens) Hinkle. He graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1952. He served his country honorably in the National Guard and had worked for over 46 years at Jumping Jack Shoe Company, retiring in 1996 as a financial supervisor. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Purdy, as well as a member of the Monett Lion’s Club.
On Feb. 7, 1958, he married Carol Sue Forrester. To this union, two children were born. Carol preceded him in death on April 2, 1994. On Dec. 1, 1995, he married Letha Mae Jones in Miami, Okla.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Sam (Nancy) Hinkle, of Fayetteville, Ark. and Tony Hinkle, of Monett; daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Mattingly, of Purdy; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Walker Keith “Bud” Hinkle and Jerry Hinkle and one sister in infancy, Virginia Rose Hinkle.
Visitation was held Dec. 12, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Interment followed at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Memorials may be donated to the First Baptist Church Food Pantry in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
