Clyde Robert Stephens

Clyde Robert Stephens, 90, of Wentworth passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 17, 2022. He was born in Wentworth to Verney Ray Stephens and Luna Pearl (Griffin) Stephens on April 30, 1932. He married Kay Erwin on June 17, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church of Wentworth.
Following graduation from Sarcoxie High School in 1950, Stephens proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years. Most of his military career was within the Security Service (Intelligence) division where he was stationed overseas in the Philippines, Alaska (twice), Vietnam and Germany. Upon retirement from the military in San Antonio, Texas effective Aug. 1976, he returned to his Wentworth home and continued to eagerly serve his community as an active member of the Village of Wentworth council for over 44 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, Thomas Gene and Sterling Stephens and sister, Allis Armstrong, plus, sons-in-law, Calvin Weiss and Marc Roberson.
Stephens is survived by his wife Kay, daughters Monna Roberson, Donna Weiss and Kristi Roller (Rodney); five grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at the Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022.  Visitation precedes service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Internment at the Sarcoxie Cemetery will be held immediately after.
Contribute donations to the Village of Wentworth in the Memory of Stephens, 106 Chestnut, Wentworth, Mo. 65873. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
