Constance Jo Irwin

Constance Jo Irwin, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 6:27 p.m. on Wednes- day, September 8, 2021, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield,
Missouri. Constance was born August 29, 1950, in Monett, Missouri, the daughter of Ja- colene and Carl Crawford.
Constance was a 1969 Monett High School graduate, a Navy reservist of 17 years, of which she served a tour in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. She enjoyed several hobbies such as taekwondo, horseback riding, and women’s trapshooting, in which she won two state championships. Connie was a Legionnaire, CERT member, took part in many 21-gun salutes, also standing guard for President Bush when visiting Aurora, Missouri. Connie settled in Mt. Vernon, where she worked and retired from Schreiber Foods. Connie was an active member of Chesapeake Baptist Church until her passing, where you may find murals painted by her.
Connie was a soldier and part of the work- force. She has also held a role as grandmother to 14 grandchildren, Lacquin, Bailey, Noah, Ethan, Edward, Shelby, Shawn, Leiah, Tyler, Zack, Aaron, Owen, Michelle, and Melissa and six great-grandchildren followed.
Connie is survived by her husband, James Irwin of Mt. Vernon; sister, Carla (Stanley) Brown of Springfield; daughter, Carrie (Patrick) Gunnels, of Mt. Vernon; three brothers-in-law, Kay Irwin of California, Gerald Irwin of Mt. Vernon, and Larry (Sandy) Irwin of Marshfield, Missouri; three stepchildren, Ross Irwin of Memphis, Tennessee, Dewayne (Angie) Irwin of Mt. Vernon, and LeAnn (Cory) West of Mt. Vernon. The close extended family includes, Jo (Al) Landoll of Kansas City, Missouri, Mike (Shelly) Donnini of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, John (Connie) Donnini of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Tom (Reginia) Donnini of Kansas City, Missouri. Many other family members are reaching from California to Florida.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Carol) Crawford, of Verona, Missouri, and Jackie (Lloyd) Kay of Monett, Missouri and her son, Barry Brown of Mt. Vernon.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Fossett- Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Monett IOOF Cemetery in Monett, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Mt. Vernon Veteran’s Home’s Activities department, in care of the funeral home.
