Darrell Leroy Williams

Darrell Leroy Williams, 84, of Verona passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Barry County on January 4, 1937 to Wendell and Fern (Mullens) Williams.
He was a graduate of Verona High School. He was a dairy and beef farmer most of his life. Darrell loved the farm life. He loved being outdoors, and going on long walks to hunt arrow heads. In the spring he loved hunting mushrooms and having a mushroom supper to feed people. He loved watching his grandkids grow up and doing things with them and loved going to the ranch to fish when he could.
He married Joyce Gilmore on June 26, 1965 and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Jesse Williams and wife, Wendy of Verona; one daughter, Felecia Harmon and husband, Wally of Verona; 5 grandchildren, Beau and wife, Megan, Blake and Abby Williams all of Aurora and Brook and Karlee Harmon of Verona; and 1 great-grandson, Asher who is on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rex Williams; and three sisters, Marjorie Thomas, Joyce Parrigon and Genvi Geil.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Clay Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus of Monett in care of the funeral home.
