Donald Laverne Little

Donald Laverne Little, 84, of Reeds, passed away July 24, 2019 surrounded by his family, following a short illness. He was born April 28, 1935 in Webster County to Andrew Jackson Little and Gladys Leon (Parscale) Little and was the fifth of 13 children. He graduated from Conway High School in 1953. He was a carpenter by trade and joined the Carpenter’s Union in 1962. He received his 50-year recognition in 2012. Little was a member of the Avilla United Methodist Church and was a founding member of their men’s prayer breakfast. He also served on the Avilla School Board. He enjoyed his life, raising cattle, growing fescue seed, travelling, fishing, hunting, gardening, music, telling stories of his childhood and family history.
In 1962, Don married Barbara Fasken Anderson. They lived in the Wichita, Kan. area until 1968, when they moved to their current home east of Avilla.
Little is survived by: his wife; children, Donald (Emma) Anderson of Reeds, Dee Ann (Donald) Nichols of Sarcoxie, and Susan Smith of Monett; siblings, Jack (Judy) Little of Lockhart, Texas, Leona Copeland Wiley of Marshfield, Grace McCormick of Steelville, Ann (Dale) Wheeler of Marshfield, and Jean (John) Young of Marshfield; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, J.D. Little, Howard Little, Perry Little, Glen Little, Wayne Little and Robert Little; sister, Mary Foley; and one grandson.
Services were held July 30, 2019 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial was at Fasken Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Team Boys Ranch in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
