Donna Jo Owens

Donna Jo Owens, 60, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born May 24, 1961, in Washington, Mo., the daughter of Paul and Josephine (Linnenbrink) Marquart.
Owens was a 1979 graduate of St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington and graduated from Kansas City College of Medical and Dental Assistants in 1982. She worked in the customer service department for the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Springfield and was a member of the Aurora Eagles Post 3948.
On May 21, 1994, she married Dale Owens in Wheaton. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2001.
Owens is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hamilton, of Fordland; two sons, Edward “Eddie” Owens of Aurora and Jon Hoffman of Marshfield; one granddaughter; three sisters, Diane Brimer of Boonville, Darlene Hulsey (Dennis), of Oklahoma and Dana Smith (Keith), of St. Clair; one brother, Dean Marquart (Tatiana), of Muscatine, Iowa and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Josephine; her husband, Dale and significant other, Mike Potter.
A celebration of  life was held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Summit Cemetery, northeast of Mt. Vernon.
Memorial donations may be made payable to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center, in care of the funeral home.
