Doris Louise Atkinson

Doris Louise Atkinson, 91, Republic, passed away Oct. 23, 2020. She was
born March 17, 1929 to George and Elsie (Harry) Gillian. She was married to
Floyd Atkinson and to this union four boys were born.
Atkinson retired from General Electric, where she supported her family for
many years due to Floyd’s health issues. Atkinson always wanted to take
care of everyone else even when her own health was failing. When her three
granddaughters needed a home, she raised them.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her parents, a sister, a
brother and her best friend of many years Lorene Peck.
Atkinson leaves behind her sons, George, Jim, Bob and Ronnie Atkinsons. She
also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-
great-grandson. She also leaves a very special adopted grandson, and
Charlie her beloved pet.
Graveside services were at 1 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020 at White Chapel
Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
