Doris Marie (Lampe) Schnelle

Doris Marie (Lampe) Schnelle was born on Jan. 16, 1928, and passed away  Nov. 16, 2021.
Schnelle was born on a dairy farm near Freistatt, to the late Rudolph and Edna Lampe. She and her brothers and sister grew up milking cows by hand. She graduated from Verona High School in 1946 and worked as a secretary for the L. A. Woods Agency of the Ohio National Life Insurance Company in Springfield from 1946 to 1952.
On June 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Melbert Lee Schnelle of Lockwood. They shared 61 years together working on their farm. They had five children.
Schnelle was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for family and friends and trying out new recipes. For 20 years she volunteered as a Foods Leader in 4-H. As a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, she was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Braille Workers.
Schnelle was preceded in death by her husband Melbert, her parents, grandson Troy Schnelle, her brothers Norman and Elfred Lampe, sister-in-law Mary Lampe, brother-in-law Harold Schnelle, and sister-in-law Evelyn Schnelle.
Schnelle is survived by her two daughters, Carol (David) Finck of Washington; Diane (Greg) Black of Buffalo; three sons, Dale (Melody) Schnelle of Overland Park, Kan.; Merle (Amy) Schnelle of Lockwood; and Jerry (Tina) Schnelle of Golden City; one sister, Grace and husband Gilbert Doss of Freistatt; two sisters-in-law Pearl Lampe of St. Louis, and Jean Schnelle of Lockwood, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4:30-7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church Family Life Center on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021.
Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood with interment immediately following the service at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Meinert.
Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
