Edward E. Dingman

Edward E. Dingman, 74, of Aurora, died December 1, 2021. He was born to Melvin and Roselea (Clymer) Dingman and reared by Roselea and Emmett McClintock. He was born in Stella and graduated from Jasper High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and was in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive.
He married Judy Burris in 1968. They enjoyed 53 years together that included many adventures, lessons, and a few mishaps along the way.
He graduated from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in 1971 and was assigned to Troop A, Lee’s Summit. In 1976, he transferred to Aurora in Troop D, Springfield, where he remained until his retirement in 1999. He was the recipient of the Red Cross Certificate of Merit when he and Trooper Kenneth Middleton rescued a woman from a submerged car in the Little Blue River near Blue Springs in 1975.
He was active in a variety of organizations, including Aurora United Methodist Church, Missouri State Troopers Association (charter member), Methodist Men, Cub Scout Pack 48 (den leader), Boy Scout Troop 48 (scoutmaster), Red Hat Brigade, Personal Energy Transportation/Mobility Worldwide, Lawrence County MU Extension Council, 17th Artillery Regiment Association (secretary), Vietnam Veterans of America, and Vietnam Veterans Task Force.
He was one of the first 15 people to receive Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder’s Veterans Service Award in 2012. The award recognized exemplary volunteer service by former members of the armed forces. He was co-recipient with his wife of the Top Dawg Award and Community Service Award from the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. For his scouting endeavors, he received the District Award of Merit, the Golden Sun Award and the Silver Beaver Award and was voted into the Order of the Arrow.
He enjoyed time with his family, being outside, fishing, camping, traveling and John Deere tractors. He had a knack for being able to fix just about anything.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Leslie James, her husband Robert and their sons, Brandon and Grayson of Clever, and his son, Eric Dingman, his wife Jill and their children, Hailey, Gavin and Ella of Ft. Bliss, Texas. He is also survived by brothers Steve McClintock of Nixa, James McClintock of Alba and Troy Dingman of Carthage; sisters Elaine McClintock McCulloch of Lamar, Beverly Dingman Seay of Carthage, Patricia Dingman Sullivan of Carthage, and Pennie Dingman Weisacosky of Rolla; an aunt, Lorada Gillman of Aransas Pass, Texas; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; his parents, Emmett and Roselea McClintock; and brothers David McClintock and Gordon McClintock.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, December 5, at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1211 South Carnation. The memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, at the church. A private burial will be held later.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial or the 17th Artillery Regiment Association’s Scholarship Fund, all in care of the funeral home.
