Ellen James

Ellen “Lee” James, 86, of Marionville, passed away Jan. 2, 2020 at the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville. She was born July 22, 1933 in Versailles to Garland and Dica May (Hoskins) James, who preceded her in death.
She grew up and received her education in Tipton where she graduated from high school. Throughout her life she resided in Versailles, Kansas City, Reeds Spring, Lampe, Shell Knob, and then Marionville. While in Kansas City she was a telephone operator for AT&T and in Reeds Spring she farmed the family ranch. In 1970 she became a real estate agent and eventually became co-owner of Green Mountain Realty in Shell Knob serving the Table Rock Lake area, retiring from there in 2003. She was a devout Roman Catholic, being a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob and later became a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Billings. She was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, Post 2203 in Shell Knob.
Surviving are: sons, Barry (Vickie) Harber of Tampa, Fla., Bryan Harber of Southwest Missouri and Brad (Gail) Harber of Newalla, Okla.; brother, Jimmy (Sandy) James of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Verna Ackerson and Joann (Vernon) Dopp all of Lampe; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother, Garland James.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville Jan. 8, 2020. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Memorials may be made to the Haven of the Ozarks as this was her passionate charity.
