Emmit Kermit Baty

Emmit Kermit Baty, 83, passed away Jan. 23, 2020. He was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Bendavis to John Cyrus Baty and Mary Atchley Baty. He was married Dec. 23, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev. to Dixie Ragsdale Rust; they were married over 26 years.
Baty was a member of Kings Way Christian Church of Mt. Vernon. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He received his degree in wildlife management from the University of Maine. He lived in Coos Bay, Ore. after graduation to work for the Bureau of Land Management. He retired from there in 1994 and moved to Mt. Vernon.
He is survived by: his wife, Dixie, of the home; children, Delinda (Gene) Jenkins, Kent (Michelle) Rust and Trudy (Darren) Call all of Mt. Vernon; brothers and sisters, Mary Jo (Ed) Kelemen of Cherryvale, Kan., Johnnie Lou Mahan of Eminence, Kay (Lonnie) Crisp, Carolyn (Delbert) Pierce and Larry (Debbie) Baty all of Bendavis; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. Baty was preceded in death by: his parents; and brothers and sisters, Imogene Porter, Bonnie Maxwell, Wilma Campbell, Bertie Baty, Hazel Hayes, Eugene Baty, Murlin Baty, Lowell Baty, Montie Baty and Dwyane Baty; and one granddaughter, Nicole Ann Rust.
Graveside services were held Jan. 27, 2020 at Cedar Valley Cemetery, in Huggins. Burial with full military honors by the United States Navy and American Legion Post #30 was in Cedar Valley Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove.
