Flora Marie Wanda (Nobe) Obermann

Flora Marie Wanda (Nobe) Obermann, 95, passed away Sept. 21, 2018. Before her death, She resided in Sunshine Manor in Republic. Obermann was a lifelong resident of Freistatt, she was born in her family home April 7, 1923, to Johann Heinrich Nobe and Emilie Louise (Holle) Nobe. Obermann was a devoted life long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. As the youngest of six children, she grew up working alongside her siblings and parents in the Nobe General Store. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated in 1937, and went on to attend one year at Raithel Public School in Freistatt. In her younger years, Flora discovered her love of music. She belonged to the Freistatt drum and bugle corps, which was formed in the late 1930s. Obermann and her sisters sang with Slim Wilson on the Ozark Jubilee. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, embroidery and sewing. She also bowled and was an avid gardener. In 1947, she married Norbert William Obermann, who preceded her in death in 1973.
Surviving are: three children (Rosemary) Darrell of Monett, Paul and his life partner Carol of Springfield, and Brenda Thorp of Republic; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as three great-great-grandchildren; She was also preceded in death by: her parents; brothers Alvin William Nobe and Erhart Heinrich Nobe; sisters Meta Knaust, Esther Barber and Amanda Aufdembrink.
Funeral services were Sept. 25, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. Interment was held in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
