Fredrick Robert Schoen

Fredrick Robert Schoen, 71, of Freistatt, passed away Dec. 10, 2019, following several months of ill health. Schoen was born Oct. 20, 1948 in Monett, to the late Eldred Paul Schoen and Anna Louise (Repschlaeger) Schoen. Schoen graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1966. During his teenage years, he began working with his Dad at Schoen Electric and was also a rural mail carrier. Shortly after his high school years, he served his country honorably by enlisting in the Army National Guard, serving for eight years. In 1969 in Trinity Lutheran Church, he married Pamela Kay Wendler. In 1974, Schoen and his wife began operating Schoen Refrigeration. He later began working at Earth Energy until the mid-1990’s. In 2012, he retired from Geo Enterprises.  
Schoen had a great involvement in the community and in his church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. He was also active with the Lion’s Club, the American Legion, the Monett Sportsman’s League. He was a member of the NRA. He also served on the DNR Well Board and had taught classes at OTC in HVAC. For over 27 years, he served as a reserve officer at the Lawrence County Sherriff’s Department.Schoen is survived by: his wife; son, Marcus (Sandra)Schoen of Monett; daughter, Michelle (William) Kist of Hong Kong; five grandchildren; brother, Phil (Karen) Schoen of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister, Peggy (Scott) Schoen-Simmer of Silver Springs, Md.; one nephew; his mother-in-law; and his favorite bird dog, Grady.
Funeral services were held at Dec. 15, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment and military honors followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School or Trinity Lutheran Radio Broadcast. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
