Geneva Mae Whisman McCormick

Geneva Mae Whisman McCormick passed away June 20, 2022.
She was born on April 25, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla. to Lee and Anna Lorene Whisman. At age seven the family relocated to Shell Knob where she lived with her sisters; Wilda, Imogene, Robbie Dean and her brother, Jerry Waldon.
In 1943, she married Travis Smith and later welcomed her first daughter, Carolyn Sue, on Feb. 12, 1946.
On July 10, 1954, Geneva married her second husband, Dr. Harvey F. Minor. She later welcomed twin girls, Judith Diane, and Cheryl Denise, born Sept. 3, 1956.
She was widowed in 1964 after the devastating loss of Harvey to esophageal cancer.
She later met Major Everett Lee McCormick and was married to him on June 5, 1966. She then became a mother to Lee’s children, Roger Lee, Richard Denton, Donald Carl, and Mary Kay. Together, they raised their family in Grandview from 1966-1995.
She leaves behind the above mentioned children, her beloved daughters-in-law: Barbara Shirk McCormick (Roger), Sharon McCormick, (Richard), Susan Politte McCormick (Donald) and her son -in-law, Mike Woods (Diane) and Tim McGill (Denise), her sister, Robbie Dean Williams and Sue Thomas.
She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
McCormick was preceded in death by her loving husband Everett Lee, two sisters, Wilda Bray and Imogene Marshall, her brother, Jerry Waldon Whisman, her son-in-law, Dennis Williams (Carolyn), and daughter, Mary Kay McCormick.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. Reverend Robert Bradow officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. preceding the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett. Memorial contributions can be made to Oak Pointe Monett, Glorieta Adventure Camp or Waymark Church in Monett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
