Jacob Leon Berry

Jacob Leon “Jake” Berry, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, was born April 13, 1990, at Darnall Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas. He passed away at the
age of 31, on September 18, 2021, at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, after a short illness, surrounded by his family and friends.
Jake lived with his family in Copperas Cove, Texas, from birth until 1997. Jake and his family were involved in their church, Hillside Evangelical Church in Copperas Cove, where he cut his teeth on the 3rd pew. Jake was a very spirited and joyful child whose playful antics brought laughter to those around him.
In 1997 work took his family to Weisbaden Germany, Kaposvar Hungary and Brindisi Italy, before moving back to Riverton, Wyoming, in January of 2000. He and his family lived in Riverton, Wyoming, from 2000 until January 2003 and attended Way of the Cross Assembly. In 2003 work took Jake and his family to Mt. Vernon, Missouri, where he attended Mt. Vernon High School and attended the Church on the Loop Assembly of God. Jake lived in Mt. Vernon until his passing.
Jake made the choice to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 12. Most of Jake’s cousins were younger than him, so when they would visit or at a family get together, Jake was their ringleader. They all looked up to Jake and couldn’t wait to spend time with him. Some of their favorite pastimes were making home videos, Jake would direct about aliens attacking. He would dress them up, give them nerf guns, and tell them what to say or do while he recorded. One of their other favorite pastimes when together was harassing
Jake’s older sister, Aubrey. As an adult, Jake’s servant heart become
more evident. He enjoyed babysitting his niece, Brielle, when she was little and introducing her to Legos. He helped take care of his grandma Bradford and uncle Dale for years until the time of their passing.
Jake was full of love and had a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all of us who loved his smile, his joyful spirit, and his caring heart.
Jake is survived by his father, Steven Berry and his wife “Momma” Kristine of Kansas City, Missouri; his mother, Gayle Berry of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Aubrey Off of Mt.
