James Edward DeYoung

James Edward DeYoung departed this life on June 7, 2021, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas.  He was born May 1, 1945.
His parents, Drs. John Edward and Charlotte Ann (Moor) DeYoung moved the family to Oskaloosa, Kansas where Jim attended high school and excelled in basketball, football, and track.  He became an avid fisherman while a teen.  He was a graduate from Drury College, Springfield, Missouri.
He joined General Electric which took him to Lynchburg, Virginia; Schenectady, New York; Hickory, North Carolina; and Cleveland, Ohio.  He completed his career as Financial Consultant for GE International Lighting.
After retiring he became the owner/operator of Lucky Lady Mobile Home Park in Mt Vernon Missouri.  He enjoyed hobbies of boating, fishing, woodcarving and renovating homes.
He was a US Army Veteran ‘68-‘71.  While serving in Vietnam he volunteered at an orphanage for the youngest victims of war.
He is survived by sons, Richard Andrew (Julie) DeYoung, Town & Country Missouri and Thomas Grissom DeYoung, Des Peres Missouri; grandchildren Patrick Blaine, Audrey and Zoe DeYoung; sibling Chris DeYoung, Dallas Texas, and nephew Cody DeYoung.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son John Patrick DeYoung; sister, Jane Ann DeYoung Johnson Marshand, and nephew, Scott Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
